Alison Gannett is a World Champion Big Mountain FreeSkier, founder of The Save Our Snow Foundation, and founder KEEN Rippin Chix Steep Skiing Camps and Rippin Chix Mountain Bike Camps. As an accomplished ski mountaineer and Environmental Scientist, she utilizes her first descents and ski expeditions worldwide - India, Pakistan, Bolivia, Argentina, Bhutan, South Africa, Europe and North America, to photo document glacial recession - glaciers that she first skied in 1995-2002 have now disappeared forever. Ski Magagine named her Ski Hero of the Year, while Outside magazine named her "Green All-Star of the Year", next to Leonardo DiCaprio and Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2011, National Geographic named her a Woman Adventurer of the Year.
Alison has dedicated her life to making the world a better place, and has spent over half her life working on solutions to climate change. Alison enjoys working with businesses, with her "Be Green, Save Green" keynote presentations and workshops, demonstrating and illustrating how companies such as Levi's, Nike, Patagonia, Osprey, NEMO, Elemental Herbs, KEEN, and even Walmart, have improved the bottom line by reducing energy use.
A big believer of walking the talk, she started an experiment in calculating and reducing her carbon footprint in 2002. Surprising even herself, she has been able to reduce her footprint by over 50%, with low-cost and no-cost action items. In her Global Cooling Ski Adventure Show, she demonstrates how her choices within her exhilarating outdoor lifestyle can result in measurable and meaningful energy reduction. She hopes to inspire others showing how daily simple choices in travel, home, consumption, food and water, can not only reduce her carbon footprint, but increased her quality of life. Her latest experiment, growing and raising all her own food on Holy Terror Farm, and helping other farmers and customers by starting a farmer controlled online farmers market.
