Entertain yourself with one woman's journey to save the world in this multimedia adventure presentation. In addition to many World Champion “extreme” freeskiing titles and starring ski film roles, Alison Gannett has dedicated the majority of her life to saving our snow, water, and ecosystems from the devastating effects of climat change. In addition to designing and building the first straw bale house in a National Historic District and converting the world's first solar-powered plug-in-hybrid (an SUV that gets over 100 miles to the gallon), she has led ski expeditions to document glacial recession all over the world. She also travels the globe promoting her four-step CROP climate change solutions framework, training such notables as Al Gore's staff. This year she was selected by Outside Magazine as a Green All-Star, alongside Willie Nelson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Entertain yourself with one woman's journey to save the world in this multimedia adventure presentation from Straightlining vertical faces in Alaska to first ascents in Pakistan. This World Champion freeskier has spent most of her life working on solutions to Global Warming. Also a proponent of "walking the talk", she designed and built the first strawbale house in a National Historic District in 1997 and has converted the world's first solar-powered Ford Escape Hybrid, an SUV that gets over 100 miles to the gallon. She has led ski expeditions to document global warming in Bolivia, Argentina, Bhutan, India, South Africa, Pakistan, France, Switzerland, Canada and the US. She also travels the world as a global cooling consultant, training such notables as Al Gore's TCP staff. She was also nominated by Outside Magazine as a Green All-Star, alongside Willie Nelson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

In addition to many world “extreme” freeskiing titles, starring roles in ski films, endurance mountain biking titles, Rippin Chix steeps camps and avalanche courses, she has dedicated the majority of the last 20 years to saving our snow, water, and ecosystems from the devastating effects of global warming. She graduated with a Batchlor of Science in the Environment in 1987, Magna Cum Laude, with Honors from UVM, and subsequently founded her first business to battle climate change in 1991. She is the founding president of several non-profits to combat climate change – The Office for Resource Efficiency www.resourceefficiency.org and the The SOS Foundation www.sosfound.org. She works with The Equilibrium Fund www.theequilibriumfund.org in Central America verifying, certifying, and brokering the carbon credits of Maya Nut trees, directly funding local women, providing leadership training, and providing food security from the native rainforest trees.

Her ongoing “Global Cooling Tour” includes many educational projects , including touring with the world’s first solar-powered plug-in-hybrid Ford Escape SUV, showing the world what is possible in vehicles, buildings, food productions, waste management and policy change, with an action adventure entertaining format. She speaks widely to individuals, schools, businesses, communities, and governments on her four-part solution framework, CROP™, which seeks measuable authentic and cost-effective solutions for global warming.

1st solar powered SUV Plug in Hybrid conversion in the world

World Extreme skiing champion and global warming consultant Alison Gannett has converted a Ford Escape Hybrid SUV to a plug in hybrid (PHEV), which can run on an electric engine, gasoline engine or both. This is the third conversion of this type in the world. And she regularly can get over 100 miles to the gallon. How? - Take a normal Ford Escape Hybrid, remove the Nickle Metal Hydride batteries and add Lithium Ion Nano Phosphate Batteries (think 1600 DeWalt Drill batteries, about the size of a D Cell Battery). These batteries can hold up to ten times the charge and capacity of the batteries in a typical hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), such as the ford escape. Then add a power inverter, and add a plug in spot on the rear bumper, which plugs into a regular outlet. The same engines are then able to run on supercharged electric power - which means mileage up to 192 miles per "gallon" and more power.

Electric cars are actually more powerful than gasoline versions with more HP and more torque due the non-existent lag when you press the accelerator. Alison is adding an 8 panel solar system on her owner designed and built strawbale solar house to charge the vehicle without using coal fired electricity. Next year, Alison hopes to pull the gasoline engine out and replace it with a super efficient diesel engine, like those that are required in Europe, which will increase efficiency of the non-electric engine by about 40%. She then plans on adding another tank to burn veggie oil, in addition to biodiesel and low-sulpher diesel. She will then add a hydrogen accelorator to to again boost mileage by another 40% or so. Why all the work, time and money? Alison has been walking the walk and talking the talk, as well as working on global warming for 20 years. She hopes to educate the world on what is possible for emissions reduction. Filming for Discovery TV and The Global Cooling Tour

Finally, a Global Cooling Tour update! It has been a crazy spring tour - DC, Texas, Germany, Austria, El Salvador, Nicaragua, California, Colorado and now off to New Mexico, Montana and Massachusetts. We've been getting some stellar coverage with your logos on the world's first solar powered plug-in-hybrid electric SUV - including a huge feature for the Discovery Channel that I just filmed in Los Angeles. I filmed with Tom Bergeron (Dancing with the Stars Host), Jeff Probst (Survivor Host), and Gerry Marshal (Director Happy Days and Pretty Woman). It was a talk show called "Supper Club" and I'll keep you posted on air times (it is supposed to air MANY times!). I helped the stars calculate their carbon footprints, and they did a big focus on the SUV, which should be some killer sponsor coverage! I've also filmed quite a few other TV shows this year, and done many magazine features and advertisements (see list below).

With soaring gas prices, the SUV has gone off the charts with attention in the last month. It is such a timely hot topic, and we should continue to kill it with the press. I've just returned from the latest round of global cooling keynotes - New Belgium Brewery, Smartwool Sales Meeting, Women's Adventure Magazine, GoLite, and the Colorado Governor's Energy Office. Again, the SUV was the hit of the day, as was the powerpoint - Calculating carbon footprints with carbonfootprint.com, producing our own power with for iPhones and computers with Brunton's portable power solar panels and batteries, reducing carbon footprints by wearing eco-friendly KEEN shoes and Smartwool socks, eating organic Clif Bars, and using Osprey's Resource recycled pack line. In addition, I show off the many green initiatives that my sponsors are using in a powerpoint in the back of the SUV at events, such as fair trade labor, post-consumer recycled paper, commuting transportation initiatives, recycled packaging, recycled content for your products, etc.

1. What is the Clif Bar Save our Snow Winter Roadtrip?
The goal of the Clif Bar Save Our Snow Winter Roadtrip is two-fold: We want to call attention to the impact of global warming on winter sports, and we want to inspire people to take small actions that can help fight climate change. As an athlete representing a company driven by athletes, we’re reaching out to skiers and snowboarders on this road trip, but the reality is that we all have a shared responsibility to change our behaviors in order to protect the earth.

2. Why Are You Doing This?
I'm a lifelong environmentalist who became a professional skier on the side. Global warming destroying not only the mountain snowpack, but also our planet. This snowpack provides us our playground, but also drinking water for 80% of the planet. As temperatures rise, so too will climate disruption. As a member of Team Clif Bar, a company that makes it a bottom-line priority to protect the environment, this roadtrip provides a great opportunity for both of us to bring the issue of global warming directly to thousands of winter sports enthusiasts.

3. What’s Up with this RV?
The Clif Bar RV is powered entirely by straight veggie oil, a clean, renewable source of fuel. We wanted to showcase one of several alternative fuel options that have the potential to drastically reduce CO2 emissions into our atmosphere. Other options include biodiesel, natural gas, ethanol and propane.

* This rugged winter roadtrip also highlights the ability of veggie fuel to power a vehicle in all conditions—in our case, driving thousands of miles over high-elevation mountain passes in winter temperatures. Nothing is harder on a vehicle.

* Alison will be handing out her tips for homes, businesses, and ski areas from the RV at ski areas, SIA and OR shows, and will be also available for live tips on the chairlift or the backcountry.

5. What Can Consumers Do?
The Clif Bar SOS Winter Roadtrip highlights six simple actions anyone can take. If we all took these simple steps it would have a dramatic impact on global warming. They are:

* Buy Renewable Energy – Renewable energy helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the main contributor to global warming. Facts and Stats:
∑ A recent UN study predicted that global warming’s effect on snowpack could make skiing and snowboarding extinct by the year 2030 in the Alps, Sierra Nevadas, and on the East Coast, and by 2050 in the Central Rockies.

∑ European reports are predicting a 2-4 degree temperature rise by 2080 which would have 1700 of their 4000 resorts below snowline.

∑ Global warming has driven temperatures in the Alps to their highest in 1,300 years, according to an EU-backed climate study.

∑ The European ski industry is already feeling the impact of global warming. The World Cup races were moved from Europe just this past December due to a lack of snow. In fact, many European ski resorts have yet to open for the season.

∑ Did you know that 80% of the world's drinking water is derived from snowpack? As global warming melts snowpack worldwide, our ability to survive diminishes greatly.

All major democracy movements like the civil rights movement and Women’s suffrage began at the grassroots level.
