The Save Our Snow Foundation was founded in 2006 by Alison Gannett. Our mission - to demonstrate that solutions to climate change can be cost-effective, actually increasing profitability while reducing pollution, increasing energy security and green sector jobs, while also saving our snowpack and our planet’s ecosystems.

Climate change is rapidly altering the future of outdoor sports. In order for future generations to have the same powder ski runs, kayak expeditions, nordic ski adventures, and ski mountaineering exploits the world needs to fundamentally alter its carbon consumption pattern. SOS seeks to ignite action in the optimistic spirit of outdoor sports, to show hope, adventure and change through our many programs. Once individuals know and understand the future, it is our hope they will want to change the course of history.

Mission
The Office for Resource Efficiency’s (ORE) Mission is to dedicated to the combatting climate change by encouraging energy and resource savings and development of renewable energy sources to help lower utility costs, decrease the emission of pollutants and create a more sustainable economic and energy future for the Gunnison Valley community and beyond.

ORE’s Goals are to:

-Strengthen Gunnison County’s economy, by reducing the energy dollars leaving our community;
Improve the energy and resource efficiency in Gunnison Valley’s homes and businesses;

-Encourage the use and development of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and alternative fuels.
It will accomplish these goals by working cooperatively with individuals, businesses, utilities and governments to create measurable, meaningful improvements in energy and resource consumption and cost.
