Review and refinement of testing for glucose, testing for breath ketones, testing your personalized reaction to individual foods, review labs and possible need for food sensitivity testing with Cyrex Labs, blood ketone testing, and, if needed glucose/ketone index or GKI.
For measurable results, it is suggested that you obtain either the Ketonix.com breath monitor or a blood glucose tester. Either can measure your daily progress, but will enable testing of each and every food. The Ketonix has a higher up front cost of around $150 and must be ordered online, but requires no additional purchases for the rest of your life. The blood glucose monitor is widely available, inexpensive at around $32, but you must buy test strips. The same blood glucose tester may be put to use as a blood ketone tester, which will be implemented after blood glucose is steady and stable and breath ketones are high. Testing is mandatory for oncology clients, with high blood ketone numbers being the gold standard. In the coaching appointment, you will learn how all three measurements interact together, and how to also monitor the correlation between those numbers and your lab/blood chemistry results. Urine strips are not accurate for this application.
Implementing a ketogenic lifestyle or dietary changes without blood chemistry testing or assistance of your doctor is not recommended. Your doctor must screen for any and all pre-existing conditions. This screening with blood chemistry tests or your local health fair will assist in creating a personalized diet plan, as no two people are alike. Health coaching insurance requires that you run all suggestions and recommendations through your physician before implementation.
